I started my working life at the age of 14, washing up in a local pub. Once I turned 18 I applied for a job at the local racecorse for the position of bar tender. I quickly progressed to bar manager and then onto cellar manager for the entire site.

During this time I learnt many things (not to mention how to pour a good pint ;) ) Most promently I learnt about managing people, money and produce as it was key to get it right for every event. I was manager for at least 2 years and managed hundreds of racedays and private functions.

I continued working at the racecourse on weekends and holidays during my first year at University.

Before the first term ended we were assigned the coursework duing professional games development module to create a CV and attend a mock interview assesed by our lecturers.

As a result of my interview I was offered a job with a new exciting project called Technocamps which went into local schools to teach computer science. My experience working with Technocamps I feel was key in making me the man I am today, the main things I learnt from this experince was how to overcome shyness, presentation of not only myself but that of the content I was delivering and most importantly how to comunicate not only with students but within a close knit team. Another key skill this experience brought me was that of time management, as I was studing some advanced topics managing my time studing and working was often difficult.

I continued to work for Technocamps throughout my student life and beyond....

During my masters degree for our final project we were aproached by a local creative company that was looking for programmers to aid with a game development project, in return we would recive art and design. At this point I had about 4 assesments due, developing a comercial game, and completing a major final year group project.

I graduated from my MComp degree in 2015 with a first in Computer Games Development. As a post graduate I was offered the opportunity to take on a part time role in Technocamps as Workshop Delivery Officer and Developer, this allowed me to continue doing what I felt was essential work that made a great impact on the children and communites.

The other half of my time would be spent lecturing at University on the undergraduate modules. This was a big step up for me and I was very nervous during my first lecuture but the confidence I had gained from my experience with Technocamps made it a breeze.

I found lecturing rather easy because I was so well grounded in all manor of computer science especially given that I had no formal qualificaitons in teaching, Things got a bit more difficult when I was asked to take on helping 3rd year computer graphics modules, given that I'd practically only just learnt these concepts myself, nonetheless I brushed up on my skills and was able to help my students get through their module with flying colours.

After my year lecturing and teaching I decided it was time for a change, I wanted to go out in to the world and work on projects that would challenge my technical abilies as opposed to my personal ones.

I soon found employment with a company that develops augmented and virtual reality apps.
